Despite four set losses to Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws – 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, University of the East Lady Warriors broke their eight straight sets loss in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
Lady Warriors won their first set of the season by a service ace of Laizah Bendong by the end of the third set to extend the match. It was a tight battle between both teams, and a lot of long rallies happened.
However, the Lady Warriors are still last in the standing and still looking for their first since last season. UE is now holding a 0-9 win-loss record forfeitting their chance to enter in the Final Four for the last eight seasons.
Shaya Adorador fired 14 points while Angelica Dacaymat finished with a career-high 13 markers including 11 kills for UE.
Lady Tamaraws improved their standing to a 4-5 win-loss record and still have a chance to make it in the Final Four to end their two season drought.
Bernadette Pons led the Morayta-based squad with 12 points all from spikes while Remy Palma added 11 points and the Rookie Toni Basas scored eight markers.
Both teams are scheduled to play next on February 1, Sunday when UE Lady Warriors clash with the AdU Lady Falcons at 2:00PM while FEU Lady Tamaraws will face the UST Lady Tigresses at 4:00PM in the Arena in San Juan.
