The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers remained unbeaten in ten games to claim the solo top spot after defeating Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws in four sets 25-11, 23-25, 25-20, 25-10 last Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
A six point lead in the spiking department (40-34), 10 blocks and 10 service aces have become a big factor for the Lady Spikers to duplicate their wins over the Lady Tamaraws.
DLSU Lady Spikers improved their winning streak to 26-0 since 2012; and their 200th win (out of a 249 record) under Coach Ramil De Jesus, but this was the first time that Lady Spikers dropped a set in this season.
The player of the game, Kim Fajardo, recorded 10 points off three attacks, two blocks and five service aces plus her 20 excellent sets. Mika Reyes and Ara Galang both added 11 points, team captain Aby Marano, Cyd Demecillo and Alex Tan contributed nine points each.
DLSU is the first team to hold a Final Four spot of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
The Lady Spikers need to win their last four matches though, to sweep the tournament and get the trice-to-beat advantage in the finals.
