Manila, Philippines— It was almost one tick away before Almond Vosotros hit the tough jumper for De La Salle Green Archers in an effort to blow Adamson Falcons into 70-69 OT loss, as UAAP 76 second round men’s basketball resumed in August 14 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Norbert Torres missed the chance in a hope to renew lost points from Adamson’s bad possessions down the paint in the last 30 seconds. Vosotros answered the tap right away that took four bounces in the rim before the ball went in.
Vosotros hauled in 19 points, adding to Arnold Van Opstal’s 13 in the court.
The season’s host Falcon had a grinding game since their first clash with the Taft squad. De La Salle turned down the case filed by Adamson after a controversial game dispute in their first meeting.
The Falcons admitted they couldn’t recover from pitfall after a series of clumsy drives to the defense. It was their opponents advantage in handling and good cuts that kept them failing to assault until the last drop in the clock.
Ryan Monteclaro lost the ball out of bounds before the Vosotro’s get-go barged in. Don Trollano rushed in to save their opener but eventually pricked them to their fifth setback.
Rodney Brondial matched the green heroine with 19 points and 23 rebounds, all went to waste.
